An ElderNest Advocate will work with all new clients to develop their individual advocacy plan.
Why do I need an advocate?
Many healthcare facilities are significantly short staffed and they are unable to spend adequate time with patients, residents, or families. Sometimes there is turnover in a key position and you can't get anyone to answer a phone. Appointments can be hard to make. Misinformation, or a lack of information can cause great stress and an advocate can be there to listen and support you through difficult times. As experienced healthcare workers, ElderNest Advocates are comfortable in the clinical setting and are familiar with the local care network

We are local. We are not a virtual assistant. We are not a paid network of providers. We are experts. We have provided care both professionally and personally. We have been frustrated by the healthcare industry and we are here to share the insight we gained with others.

ElderNest works to maintain a strong referral network of local community resources and service providers; however, ElderNest in no way guarantees the work provided by these agencies, and receives no financial incentive for direct referrals. ElderNest maintains a commitment to the client that they have a fiduciary responsibility to. ElderNest maintains compliance with all privacy, confidentiality laws and professional standards.

ElderNest Advocates build relationships with the individual, and their entire care team. We prioritize listening and learning about your preferences, values and goals. We participate in conversations assuring that your voice is heard. We implement and follow advanced directives and develop a life care plan. We accompany you to appointments or care meetings in order to facilitate clear communication and assure important information is understood.
We join you at whatever point you decide in your life journey, and we walk with you until you don't need us anymore.
ElderNest Advocates open discussion, lead conversations, and prompt proactive decision making regarding the future and possible care needs. Having these uncomfortable discussions about family planning, caregiving, end of life decisions, quality of life values, etc. can be difficult; however, these challenges can be faced much easier when not happening at the time of an actual crises.
These heavy conversations should happen when there is an opportunity to find hope, not react in fear.
